My wedding is in nine months and my fiance and i would like to have a 1950's glam style wedding

Our problem is our reception. We wanted to rent a small vintage like movie theatre somewhere in dallas tx. How much do you think it will cost to rent one.

movie theaters are notorious for steps all over the place in dark areas and your going to have long dresses with trains and i would think that the insurance risk alone would be prohibitive to any movie house owner to take on for something like that, and all old movie houses are full of pop corn and rats so whose going to bite the rats first, you could scare the hell out Dallas
i don't think it would be a good idea to rent out a theater but what you might want to do is rent out like a hall and decorate it your self GREASE the movie was about the 1050's use that as an inspiration!!
Its a great idea in theory but as bev wisely mentioned, there could be a few logistical problems. What about a theatre instead of a moivie theatre? You could set up tables and chairs on the stage. Throw in a couple of spot-lights and maybe a mirror-ball, a couple of old movie posters, pics of James Dean, elvis and other 50's icons and it'll be a smash!
I don't know...why don't you find one in the yellow pages, and call them and ask. I'm in Kansas City, and there are a couple up here that you can do that with. You can also go on theknot.com, and looking in Dallas reception venues find something. Congrats and best of luck to you!

Theaters that do rent out their space for receptions/etc., do one of 2 things. You can either use just the stage area, or they can build a floor over the seating area that will be level with the stage floor. This eliminates the steps and aisles all over the place.
